Greenberg Traurig Becomes One of Few Law Firms to Achieve RHQ Status in KSA

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – May 28, 2024 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig Khalid Al-Thebity is among the first law firms to be licensed as a Regional Head Quarters (RHQ) company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The RHQ plan is part of Vision 2030, which aims to grow the Kingdom’s economy by diversifying the private sector.

Richard A. Rosenbaum, Greenberg Traurig's Executive Chairman, who is personally committed to supporting the firm's growing regional team, said, "Greenberg Traurig has been intensely executing its long-term vision to be a true leader in the Middle East, nowhere more evident than in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – such an important driver of innovation and regional and global business growth now and going forward. While a large, unified, and truly global law firm, we very much retain our entrepreneurial spirit, minimizing bureaucratic obstacles and embracing our core values of respect, trust, collaboration, and the empowerment of our people on the ground, truly distinguishing us from other large global firms. With a significant presence in the KSA and UAE, accelerating in just the most recent six months, we are deeply committed to our further strategic expansion in the region, working closely with regional veteran Khalid A. Al-Thebity, whose 27 years of uninterrupted success in the Kingdom has laid a strong foundation. Khalid and our entire team of senior lawyers clearly share our dedication to quality, collaboration, value, and client service – rather than bureaucracy and internal politics – as we nimbly position for leadership in the most key regional industries, from real estate, hospitality, funds, M&A, and infrastructure to sports, entertainment, media, capital markets, finance, and disputes--this is simply a very exciting place to be.”

As part of Greenberg Traurig’s licensure as a RHQ, Al-Thebity will be appointed as Managing Director of the RHQ.

"Greenberg Traurig has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Middle East region through its strategic geographic footprint and comprehensive suite of practice areas perfectly tailored to our clients' needs. The ability to anticipate market demands, coupled with a stellar global reputation and the exceptional legal talent assembled, Greenberg Traurig can help collectively work towards realizing the ambitious goals of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030,” Al-Thebity said.

Over the years, attorneys at Greenberg Traurig's offices in the KSA have cultivated strong relationships with key government officials, local regulators, and economic stakeholders across the region. They have advised clients from the private sector, government bodies, and quasi-governmental organizations on some of the most significant corporate transactions, finance deals, project and project finance matters, public-private partnerships, infrastructure initiatives, natural resource projects, real estate developments, hospitality ventures, privatizations, corporate restructurings, capital market activities, banking and finance arrangements, as well as legislative and regulatory issues in the KSA. Drawing on this experience and in-depth understanding of the local legal landscape, priorities, and market players, Greenberg Traurig leverages its presence in the KSA as a regional business hub to help clients identify and capitalize on opportunities not just within the Kingdom but also in the United Arab Emirates and the broader Middle East region. The firm's KSA office serves as an ideal regional business hub for cross-border transactions and investments, backed by the Kingdom's strategic location, robust infrastructure, and business-friendly environment.
