Greenberg Traurig advises MRP on the sale of 281 new residential properties, a parking garage and commercial space in Amsterdam

4 May 2023 – Greenberg Traurig advised MRP on the sale of 281 new residential properties in Amsterdam to German real estate investment manager Union Investment. The properties are part of the MIX project located at Osdorpplein, which will consist of a total of 528 residential properties across six towers with a total surface area of 20,274 m². The MIX project also includes 3950 m² of commercial space on the ground and first floors, as well as an underground parking garage with 382 parking spaces.

The municipal library building (3923 m²) and the 162 social housing units that will come in tower 1 are not included in the transaction. These housing units will be sold at a later time to a housing corporation. The homes are part of six residential towers ranging from 29 to 41 meters in height, built on the site of the former Amsterdam-West city hall. Completion is planned for mid-2026.

Greenberg Traurig's notarial team, consisting of Radboud de Wit, Cees van Oevelen, Esther Hos and Suzanne Simonis, handled the legal advice on the sale, as well as the property structuring and the closing of the transaction. Tax advice was also provided by Greenberg Traurig, upon which the notarial team closely cooperated with Reinier van de Steenoven (Tax), Richelle Baptiste (Tax), and Marijn Bodelier (Real Estate). MRP was commercially advised by Savills. The buyer was advised legally by Dentons, fiscally by RSM and commercially by NL Real Estate.

Union Investment is expanding its strategic position in the European housing market and has purchased a large portion of the MIX Amsterdam development for its open-end real estate fund, UniImmo: Europa. MRP will continue to oversee the project for Union Investment.
