Greenberg Traurig Hosts Black History Month Fireside Chat; Adtalem’s General Counsel Chaka Patterson as Keynote

NEW YORK – Feb. 22, 2021 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP's Social Justice Action Academy will host a Black History Month Fireside Chat featuring Chaka M. Patterson, Adtalem Global Education Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary as keynote speaker. The virtual discussion will be held Feb. 25 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET. Attendees can register here.

Patterson will discuss his experiences as a leader in law and business and his thoughts on “belonging, managing up, and showing up” as a professional. He will also address how corporations can be catalysts for change when leaders personally and actively support diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Providing introductory and closing remarks will be David Weinstein, managing shareholder of the firm’s Tampa office and chair of the firm’s Environmental & Toxic Torts Litigation Practice, and Dale Wainwright, co-chair of the firm’s Appellate Practice and chair of the Texas Appellate Practice. Nikki Lewis Simon, Litigation Practice shareholder and Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, will moderate.

“Conversations like this one, that highlight the indelible connection between business and diversity, equity, and inclusion through the lens of personal experiences, are necessary and timely, particularly as we celebrate Black History Month,” Simon said.

The Social Justice Action Academy, a key element of Greenberg Traurig’s Social, Racial, and Economic Justice Action Plan, aims to educate on matters of race, justice, and equity; facilitate and encourage conversations about these topics; and drive forward meaningful change consistent with the goals of the action plan.
