NEW YORK – Sept. 17, 2019 – Jennifer Hermansky and Fang Xie, Ph.D., attorneys from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, have been named to Law360’s 2019 Rising Stars. Hermansky and Xie, named an Immigration Rising Star and a Life Sciences Rising Star respectively, were recognized among 175 attorneys from 1,300 submissions, spanning 39 practice areas. The list highlights attorneys “whose legal accomplishments transcend their age,” according to Law360.
Hermansky, based out of Philadelphia, is internationally recognized for her counsel to clients worldwide regarding their employment-based immigration needs. She focuses in advising companies and real estate developers on the structuring of private equity funds seeking investment by foreign investors. Hermansky has already structured private equity funds tailored to foreign investors totaling over $3 billion, with a total aggregate deal value of more than $6 billion.
Xie, located in the firm’s Boston office, is a sought-after patent strategist and intellectual property transaction lawyer. She focuses her practice on establishing, defending, licensing, sharing, and monetizing intellectual property rights for life sciences companies. Prior to entering the field of law, Xie conducted her doctoral research at MIT, in the laboratories of Nobel Laureate H. Robert Horvitz and U.S. National Academy of Sciences Member Terry Orr-Weaver. At MIT, she investigated programmed cell death, developmental DNA replication, and gene amplification.

Hermansky served as a member of the board of governors of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the primary bar association for immigration lawyers, and currently serves on AILA’s EB-5 Committee. She has established herself as a thought-leader in the employment-based immigration arena, speaking nationally and internationally at legal and industry conferences, as well as authoring countless articles relevant to the industry. In addition, within Greenberg Traurig, Hermansky mentors junior attorneys in the Philadelphia office, acting as a resource for associates and liaison with firm leadership, assisting with managing career development activities, and generally mentoring junior attorneys in their advancement within the firm.
Xie is an active member of Bayhelix, a group of Chinese Business Leaders in Life Sciences, as well as Healthcare Drinks, a global network of Chinese healthcare professionals, organizing events for both groups often. She also regularly hosts a Chinese Biotech Executives and Investors Delegation for networking and educational events in the firm’s Boston office. Xie regularly mentors a number of young women at MIT, Harvard, Suffolk Law School, and within the firm, providing advice on career choices, professional development, and life-work balance.
