SAN FRANCISCO– Oct. 3, 2019 – Greenberg Traurig, LLP Shareholders Barbara T. Kaplan and Michelle Ferreira will speak at the UCLA Annual Tax Controversy Institute open forum on Oct. 22, 2019 in Beverly Hills, CA.
Kaplan, co-chair of the firm's global Tax Practice and chair of the New York Tax Practice, will present during the session titled, “The Taxpayer First Act – The Impact on IRS Appeals and Tax Enforcement.” Ferreira, co-managing shareholder of the firm's San Francisco office and co-managing shareholder of the Silicon Valley office, will present during the session titled, “Emerging Issues Before the United States Tax Court.”
Kaplan was named “Lawyer of the Year,” Litigation and Controversy - Tax 2020 by Best Lawyers in America and has been recognized as one of the top 50 women lawyers in New York City by Super Lawyers magazine. She focuses her tax litigation practice on domestic and foreign corporations, partnerships, and individuals in federal, state, and local tax examinations, controversies, and litigation, including administrative and grand jury criminal tax investigations.
Ferreira counsels individuals, partnerships, estates, and corporations in tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and state and local tax agencies, including the California Franchise Tax Board, the State Board of Equalization, the Employment Development Department, and county assessment appeals boards.
