GT Miami Land Use Associate Carlos Diaz presented Sunday, Aug. 4, at the 2024 National Alliance of Preservation Commissions Forum in West Palm Beach. His presentation, titled “Success in the Miami Modern Commercial Historic District,” focused on the successful implementation and evolution of Miami’s Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) program, particularly within the Miami Modern (MiMo) district. Carlos highlighted the legal and urban planning mechanisms that have been used to achieve balance between development and historic preservation in MiMo, a neighborhood, located along Biscayne Boulevard north of downtown Miami, featuring architecture from the post-World War II era.
