State Privacy Laws

Greenberg Traurig’s Data Privacy & Cybersecurity team helps companies build and maintain compliance programs in accordance with more than 400 state-enacted privacy and data security laws. Among other things we routinely advise on compliance with California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (the UCPA), and the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). We also actively monitor and advise our clients regarding privacy and security trends in, and among, the states.
We handle:
- Building compliance programs for national and multinational clients designed to comply with the patchwork of state privacy and security laws;
- Helping companies mature their compliance programs to institutionalize privacy practices and increase the flexibility and adaptability of their programs;
- Helping companies ‘future proof’ their compliance programs by accounting for trends that may result in new state privacy statutes;
- Advising companies on how to reconcile sometimes inconsistent privacy requirements between and among the states.
