The qualities that made Carter a singular figure in American life were on full display two years before becoming president, when he delivered a Law Day speech at the University of Georgia School of Law on May 4, 1974. Hank Greenberg authored an article appearing in the National Law Journal and the New York Law Journal titled "Jimmy Carter's 1974 Law Day Speech: A Call for Lawyers to Do the Public Good."
