MIAMI – June 3, 2024 – Greenberg Traurig, P.A. Senior Vice President and Miami Co-Managing Shareholder Jaret L. Davis has been appointed to serve on the University of Miami Board of Trustees.

During the university’s annual meeting May 30, the board confirmed Manuel “Manny” Kadre as its new chair, Wayne Chaplin and Bill Morrison as new vice chairs, and welcomed several of its new trustees. The new chair noted his intent to further the University’s trajectory of excellence across the areas of health care, academia, and athletics.

“Serving on the board of trustees is a tremendous honor for me first because I am a Double ‘Cane, but more importantly because of how proud I am of the critical role that the university plays as an economic engine and a source of innovation for Miami. I am excited about the tremendous growth potential that lies ahead,” Davis said. “I look forward to working closely with the other new board members to support Manny’s vision for the future of the university, and I am ready to do everything I can to help bring that to fruition.”

A double alumnus of the University of Miami, Davis earned his B.A. in Economics in 1996 and his J.D. in 1999. He was the first African American chief of the Iron Arrow Honor Society, the leading honor society at the University of Miami. He also served as Law Alumni Association president during the 2013-2014 academic year.

An active leader in the Miami community, Davis is also a founding member of the Partnership for Miami, a newly formed, nonprofit organization committed to Miami’s long-term growth and success. He serves as vice chairman of Nicklaus Children’s Health System and is a member of the board of directors for both the Miami Foundation and City National Bank of Florida as well as the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, which he formerly chaired in 2016-2017. He is co-founder and general counsel of the eMerge Americas global technology conference.

Davis, a member of Greenberg Traurig’s global executive committee, oversees approximately 400 attorneys and business staff based in the firm’s Miami office as well as provides strategic advice to the firm in connection with various initiatives. He focuses his practice on structuring and negotiating domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital raising transactions, and large financings.
