Tomoharu Tazumi focuses his practice on real estate transactions and ventures across all major asset classes. He also has robust experience advising clients in navigating the regulatory and compliance requirements associated with conducting real estate related business operations in Japan, including the interpretation and practical application of the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, the Act on Securitization of Assets (TMK Law), and other related financial regulations.

As a key member of Greenberg Traurig’s Japan real estate team, he advises international and domestic clients in all phases of real estate projects and ventures from due diligence, to property acquisitions and dispositions, to entity and joint venture formation and structuring, to financing (including secured lending and TMK bond financing), to property operations, management and leasing. Tomoharu’ s experience also includes advising on real estate funds on both the fund sponsor and fund investor sides throughout the entire lifecycle of funds.

With bi-lingual (Japanese and English) language skills, Tomoharu not only regularly focuses on representing international cross bonder investors in making inbound real estate investments into Japan, but he also advises Japan based institutional investors in making outbound real estate investment from Japan to other major markets in the rest of the world in cooperation with members of the firm’s global real estate platform.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, he worked at a prominent Japan domestic law firm where he mainly engaged in real estate finance, financing (such as LBO finance and securitization transactions for monetary claims), as well as employment law and general corporate matters, including for international investors and companies.
