Iskender "Alex" H. Catto is the firm’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Co-Chair of the global Energy & Natural Resources Practice, and he Chairs the Power Industry Projects and Restructuring Practice. Alex advises clients on complex corporate matters, including asset acquisitions, data center power supply transactions, project development, mergers, and restructurings. He also represents clients on state and federal regulatory matters, financings, and commodity, renewable energy, financial, and derivative hedging transactions.
His experience includes representing generators, marketers, private equity clients, pipelines, utilities, and governmental entities in a wide variety of complex matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Alex was a partner in a Chicago-based international law firm where he negotiated billion-dollar power purchase agreements and asset sales, including the $52 billion merger of an energy conglomerate and the $4.5 billion sale of one-half of a nuclear generation business.

EFH is the largest generator, distributor, and certified retail provider of electricity in Texas. EFH's Chapter 11 case is the largest Chapter 11 case ever filed in Delaware and the seventh largest Chapter 11 case filed in history with over $49 billion in liabilities.
- Represented Constellation Energy Group in its merger with Exelon Corporation for a combined enterprise value of $52 billion.°

- Represented Calpine Corporation in its $18 billion restructuring, including the negotiation of numerous long and short-term power sales agreements.°
- Represented NRG Energy, Inc. in its $12 billion reorganization under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.°
- Represented the California Department of Water Resources, during California's energy crisis, in connection with the renegotiation of several of the State's long-term energy contracts, including extensive complex negotiations both within and without the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's settlement proceedings.°
- Represented the California Department of Water Resources' Fuels Team in the creation and implementation of the Department's natural gas program, including the negotiation of nearly all of the Department's natural gas transmission, storage and purchase enabling agreements, and all related fuel cost hedging instruments.°
