Ciara Alvarez-Malo is a Patent Agent in the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice of Greenberg Traurig's San Diego office. Ciara’s practice focuses on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution and diligence matters for life sciences companies.
Prior to practicing as a patent agent, Ciara thrived in a variety of environments, from lobbying members of the U.S. Congress on Capitol Hill to increase bipartisan support for the Employer Participation in Repayment Act (H.R. 1043/S. 460) to consulting biotech clients looking to enter the U.S. market.
Ciara’s academic training was completed at the University of California San Diego. She received her M.S. in Molecular Biology in 2019, and her B.S. in Physiology and Neuroscience in 2017 along with a Minor in Business Administration. Her graduate work focused on exploring host-pathogen interactions as related to chronobiology and gene expression. This work involved developing a familiarity of cell and molecular biology, genomics, gene therapy (including CRISPR technologies), and pharmacogenomics. Ciara’s scientific research background additionally includes work with academic and government entities, such as the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Ciara is fluent in both English and Spanish.
