Firm attorneys to examine updates and trends concerning employee identity and work authorization and securing visas for specialized foreign labor at the events
NEW YORK – April 25, 2023 - Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Global Immigration & Compliance Practice will open May by offering employers and others two webinars discussing the changing I-9 verification process and the recently-concluded H-1B visa cap season. These webinars are part of an ongoing information series presented by members of the practice.
- On May 2, Shareholder Nataliya Rymer and Associate Miriam C. Thompson will discuss recent changes in verifying employee identity and work authorization, as the pandemic brought a series of temporary rules for employers and temporary flexibilities for the Form I-9. Rymer and Thompson will review a history of the I-9, its requirements, and the shifting verification process, as well as methods for navigating the current process.

There are a limited number of these work visas and this year’s selection process yielded fewer approvals than expected. Colucci and Rudinsky will examine a brief history of the H-1B selection process, parse trends to date, and detangle where things stand today – as well as what other global alternatives may exist for employers and employees this year. Jason Rogers, vice president and senior global immigration counsel with Newland Chase, also will present on the panel.
