McLean, Va. – May 6, 2022 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP added Jae Woo Park as a shareholder in its Northern Virginia and New York offices, continuing the national expansion of the firm’s Private Equity and Corporate Practices.
Park, who joins from Proskauer Rose LLP, advises private equity fund sponsors and their respective portfolio companies on a wide variety of U.S. and international acquisitions, often focused on aerospace and defense, manufacturing, healthcare/medical devices and tech sectors. He counsels clients on leveraged buyouts, mergers, asset acquisitions, joint ventures, equity purchases, strategic investments, and dispositions.
“With the continued demand from private equity and investment funds for strategic counsel, Jae Woo’s addition represents the firm’s commitment to enhancing our team. His experience in working on mergers and acquisitions in various industries adds increased depth to our globally recognized Corporate and Private Equity teams,” said Global Corporate Practice Co-Chairs Peter H. Lieberman and Bruce I. March.
Park has also developed a niche sub-practice, representing venture capital fund sponsors seeking investment opportunities in emerging companies, particularly in the technology space, that have moved beyond the start-up stage and now are seeking another round of capital to propel their growth.
Park’s experience in working with emerging companies will enhance Greenberg Traurig’s Emerging Technology Practice, which is a multidisciplinary legal team focused on working with entrepreneurs and investors in this sector. This attorney group, which is based in 15 of the firm’s offices including Northern Virginia, provides legal guidance through all the stages of company development, from initial business formation, angel and venture capital funding, to IPOs and mergers and acquisition.
Laura Foote Reiff, and Michael R. Sklaire, co-managing shareholders of Greenberg Traurig’s Northern Virginia office, said: “Having Jae Woo here is an opportunity to build our team and client services since Northern Virginia is a hub for established Fortune 500 firms as well as growing number of emerging tech firms. We’re adding not only the legal expertise, but add the transactional and technical support. Such an approach is an integral part of our firm’s client-centric focus.”
“The firm’s collaborative culture and the ability to tap into its global network, along with the terrific Private Equity and broader M&A Practices, will facilitate my work on behalf of my clients. This worldwide platform will allow me to expand my practice rapidly,” Park said.
Park earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and his B.A., magna cum laude, from New York University. He is admitted in New York and not in Virginia.
