MIAMI – Nov. 18, 2021 – Jaret L. Davis, co-managing shareholder of the Miami office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., was recognized by the University of Miami School of Law and the Law Alumni Association with the Henry “Lat” Latimer Award, which honors meritorious service as a mentor within the legal profession.
The award is named after the late Judge Henry Latimer, the first African American Broward County Circuit Court judge, and honors individuals whose career in the law exemplify all that “Lat” stood for: scholarship, honesty, kindness, service and leadership. Latimer joined Greenberg Traurig in 1994 as a shareholder.
“It’s a huge honor for me to accept this award named after Henry Latimer, one of the giants in the South Florida legal community. I am both humbled and thankful,” Davis said. “As a University of Miami law student and later as an associate at Greenberg Traurig, I looked up to the man who spent his life blazing trails for future generations of black lawyers and demonstrating the importance of service to others.”

Davis oversees approximately 170 attorneys and 200 business staff as co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office, a position he has held for more than a decade. Davis focuses his corporate and securities practice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and large financings.
In addition to his practice, Davis serves in several civic capacities that allow him to give back to the community. He is the co-founder and general counsel of the eMerge Americas global technology conference, serves as chairman of the board of directors of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, serves on the board of directors for City National Bank, and is the community representative director of The Adrienne Arsht Center Trust. Davis is past chair of The Miami-Dade Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County’s official economic development organization.
