Rene A. Treviño focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation before the Federal courts, Texas courts, and the American Arbitration Association. With over 18 years of experience, he works with each client to understand its risk profile and to establish strategic goals and tactical approaches for all phases (discovery, motion practice, claim construction, trial, pre- and post-trial briefing) of litigation consistent with that profile. Rene assembles and manages teams of attorneys to implement the tactical steps necessary to accomplish those strategic goals. He has tried multiple cases to verdict in Federal courts, both in Texas and outside the state, and before arbitration panels. Rene represents clients before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Fifth Circuit, and many district courts across the country, including the Eastern District of Texas, where he served as a law clerk for the (Ret.) Hon. Chief Judge Leonard E. Davis (Tyler/Marshall Divisions).

As a former software engineer, Rene handles a broad range of intellectual property rights matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright. His technical experience includes computer hardware and application software, medical devices, and pharmaceutical products. Rene also represents clients in all aspects of construction law, including representation of subcontractors involved in large commercial disputes. Additionally, Rene served as a volunteer prosecutor for the city of Houston, where he obtained first-chair trial experience in more than 20 jury trials.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Rene worked for several years with an international law firm in Houston, Texas. Prior to his career in law, Rene spent four years as a software engineer at IBM Corp. in Austin, Texas.
