Claire Smith is a commercial litigation attorney in Greenberg Traurig’s Austin office and a member of the firm’s Antitrust Litigation & Competition Regulation Practice Group. Claire’s practice focuses on complex business litigation involving allegations of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, algorithmic price fixing, hub-and-spoke conspiracies, sham litigation, business disparagement, and gross negligence. Claire also has significant appellate experience and has successfully briefed matters before the Fifth Circuit and the Supreme Court of Texas.

Before law school, Claire worked as one of two female expatriates at a major international energy company in Cairo, Egypt, as well as in a number of Austin-area nonprofits supporting refugee resettlement and survivors of human trafficking. Today, Claire’s pro bono work continues to focus on international issues and immigration. In 2022, Claire contributed to an amicus brief for the Supreme Court of the United States that analyzed procedural barriers to justice for asylum seekers awaiting their day in court.

In her free time, Claire is an active member of the Junior League of Austin, where she has volunteered extensively to combat the adverse effects of food insecurity and hunger on educational outcomes among Austin’s schoolchildren and to promote cultural engagement with Austin’s vibrant performing arts community.
