Brian J. Assessor is a registered patent attorney experienced in advising clients on intellectual property issues, particularly in drafting patent applications, patent prosecution, and related matters. Brian’s computer engineering background and his 19 years working in the patent field provide him a unique perspective when advising clients on intellectual property matters. Brian has a wide range of experience assisting solo inventors, start-up companies, and large corporate clients in a variety of technological areas, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, semiconductors, telecommunications, medical devices, wireless communications, and more. Brian enjoys working closely with in-house counsel and inventors to develop patent strategies to fit their legal goals. Brian files and prosecutes patent applications in the United States and internationally in areas including software, hardware, mechanical devices, and consumer products.

Prior to entering private practice, Brian worked at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a patent examiner, where he focused on error detection correction, fault detection and recovery, as well as artificial intelligence. Brian also has experience as a patent analyst conducting various patent-related searches as well as performing patentability, infringement, freedom to operate, state of the art analyses, and assignment confirmation.
