Greenberg Traurig’s Scott E. Fink and Barbara T. Kaplan to Speak at 2024 Criminal Tax Fraud and Tax Controversy Conference

LAS VEGAS – Dec. 9, 2024 – Scott E. Fink and Barbara T. Kaplan, shareholders in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Tax Practice, will speak at the American Bar Association (ABA)’s 2024 Criminal Tax Fraud and Tax Controversy Conference, Dec. 12-14 in Las Vegas.

On Dec. 13, Fink will moderate “Tools, Defenses, and Recent Developments in Collection.” Panelists will discuss IRS tools and taxpayer remedies relating to collection matters, including jeopardy assessment and due process proceedings.

On Dec. 14, Kaplan will speak on “The Employee Retention Credit – How the Relief Program Became Civil and Criminal Enforcement Challenges.” The panel will discuss government enforcement and defending clients regarding pandemic relief program abuse.

Fink focuses on civil and criminal federal and state tax controversies and litigation. He represents corporations, partnerships, estates and individuals before the IRS, and state and local tax authorities in examinations, collection problems, administrative appeals, and in court.

Kaplan chairs the firm’s New York Tax Practice and has been named one of the top 50 women lawyers in New York City by Super Lawyers magazine, and focuses her tax litigation practice on domestic and foreign corporations, partnerships, and individuals in federal, state, and local tax examinations, controversies, and litigation, including administrative and grand jury criminal tax investigations.
