LONDON – Nov. 26, 2024 – Kate Kalmykov, co-chair of the global Immigration & Compliance Practice of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will speak at the 11th Biennial International Bar Association (IBA) Global Immigration Conference, held Dec. 6 in London.
Kalmykov will speak on the panel “Start-Up Nations: The Global Race to Attract the Technology Entrepreneurs of the Future.” Panelists will discuss special immigration programs, capturing and retaining workers, and tax incentives, as well as new programs, policies, and incentives to foster local and immigrant entrepreneurs.
Kalmykov is based in the firm’s New York and New Jersey offices and has close to two decades of experience in business immigration matters. She works with employers of all sizes across a variety of industries in understanding and complying with the immigration laws relating to the hiring and retention of foreign talent. In addition, her practice provides support to companies in the global transfer of personnel.
Global Immigration & Compliance Co-Chair Courtney B. Noce and Of Counsel Cole F. Heyer also will be in attendance.
Noce is based in the firm’s Atlanta office and focuses her practice on U.S. business immigration, compliance and enforcement actions, as well as global immigration. She represents both large multinational companies and small start-ups on the full range of employment-based immigration, ranging from permanent residence (PERM, National Interest Waivers, Extraordinary Ability/Outstanding Researcher, Multi-National Managers, among others) to nonimmigrant visa categories (H-1B, H-3, J-1, L-1A/B, O-1, TN). Courtney has a particular understanding of working with the retail industry and the ever-evolving challenges this industry faces.
Heyer is also based in the firm’s Atlanta office. Heyer has been working in the immigration field for over a decade and has wide-ranging experience in both family-based and employment-based immigration matters. Prior to joining GT in 2015, Cole worked at a high-volume family-based immigration practice where he represented clients before the Atlanta Immigration Court and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Greenberg Traurig’s Immigration & Compliance Practice has recently launched the Immigration Insights Podcast Miniseries.
In the first episode of the Immigration Insights series, Kalmykov and Immigration & Compliance Shareholder Jennifer Hermansky discuss the intricacies of the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa Program. They cover the program’s history, recent changes under the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act, and strategies for navigating the reserved visa set aside categories. The episode highlights the importance of lawful source and path of funds, concurrent filing benefits, and the impact of mandamus actions on processing delays. Having represented over 8,000 EB-5 investors, Kalmykov and Hermansky provide specific insights on leveraging the EB-5 program to obtain U.S. permanent residency.
The Immigration Insights Podcast is designed to help business leaders, in-house counsel and human resources personnel, immigrant investors, and entrepreneurs navigate recent legislative, regulatory, litigation, and administrative developments in immigration law.
