CHICAGO – Dec. 23, 2014 – Michael Cedillos and Barry Horwitz, associates in the Chicago office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, have each received the LAF (formerly the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago) Young Professionals Board (YPB) Corporate Ambassador Award for their advocacy and leadership on behalf of LAF within the Chicago business community.
In addition, Horwitz was awarded the inaugural 2014 New Leader Initiative Award for his efforts in organizing an YPB-sponsored panel discussion on different perspectives in housing law at Northwestern Law School. Horwitz will serve as co-chair of the 2015 YPB Executive Committee - Outreach Committee.
LAF is the largest provider of free civil legal services in Chicagoland, serving more than 40,000 of the most vulnerable people in our community. The LAF YPB is dedicated to raising visibility for this vital organization, as well as funds to support the work they do by planning social events, fundraising initiatives and community outreach efforts.
Cedillos works in the firm’s Litigation practice and focuses on commercial litigation, banking litigation involving negotiable instruments under the Uniform Commercial Code and loan participations, FINRA arbitrations, and real estate development and finance litigation, as well as bankruptcy litigation.
Horwitz works in the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology practice and focuses on several areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis in patent and trademark litigation; trademark, trade secret and unfair competition counseling; and trademark and copyright enforcement.
