BOSTON —Feb. 9, 2016 — Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has elevated Justin F. Keith to shareholder and Fang Xie, Ph.D. to of counsel in its Boston office. Firmwide, Greenberg Traurig elevated 30 attorneys to shareholder and 14 to of counsel positions.
Keith represents employers in all areas of labor and employment law, including litigation of discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, reductions in force, and numerous other personnel and workplace issues. He is experienced with wage and hour class actions brought under the Massachusetts Wage Act and nationwide collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act. He regularly provides counsel to senior management and human resource personnel on employment law compliance matters, such as reductions in force, leaves of absence, exempt status classification under the FLSA and state law, employee discipline, and restrictive covenant agreements. Additionally, Keith practices in all areas of traditional labor law, including union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, unfair labor practice charges and representation case proceedings before the NLRB, union awareness strategy and training, strike response and contingency planning, grievance arbitration proceedings, and appellate litigation before the NLRB and the Courts of Appeals. He is a contributing editor of The Developing Labor Law (BNA Books), the leading treatise on U.S. labor law, and a frequent speaker to legal and industry groups on labor and employment issues.
Dr. Xie focuses her practice on developing, evaluating, and enforcing intellectual property rights. She has broad experience in worldwide patent and trademark portfolio development, intellectual property due diligence, licensing and technology transfer, patentability and product clearance studies, patent infringement and validity analyses, freedom to operate evaluations, as well as intellectual property litigation and pre-litigation counseling. Dr. Xie’s primary technical areas include biotechnology, synthetic biology, and pharmaceuticals, with a focus on nucleic acid synthesis, protein and organism engineering, antibody and biologics/biosimilars, stem cell technology, regenerative medicine, biomarkers, genetic diagnostics, small molecule drugs, analytical chemistry, and cosmetics. She regularly works with clients in the life sciences sector, including biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemistry companies, as well as venture capital and institutional investors. Dr. Xie also frequently works with early-stage bio-pharmaceutical companies to enhance their IP position and develop licensing and partnership strategies.
