NEW YORK – Oct. 30, 2015 – The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP sponsored the American Conference Institute’s (ACI) 10th National Forum on ERISA Litigation. The conference took place Monday, Oct. 26 - 27, 2015, at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton New York City. Shareholders James M. Nelson and Jonathan L. Sulds spoke at this yearly forum that focused on expert strategies for leading in-house and outside counsel on litigating today’s key issues involving benefit plans, plan investment, and fiduciaries.
According to the ACI website, this forum has been designed to bring together the nation’s leading in-house experts and outside counsel to engage in a two-day seminar geared toward developing winning litigation strategies and exploring new and emerging theories of liability from the plaintiffs’ bar.
Sulds, co-chair of the firm’s national ERISA Litigation and global Labor & Employment practices, focused his panel on multi-employer pension plan withdrawal liability. He has been representing leading employers since 1974 in virtually every aspect of their engagement, protection, management, and reward of workforce resources. In addition to ERISA litigation, he is experienced in the areas of collective bargaining and traditional labor relations, wage and hour matters, discrimination complaints, restrictive covenant, duty of loyalty, and trade secret litigation.
Nelson, who is co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Sacramento Labor & Employment Practice and co-chair of the firm’s national ERISA Litigation Practice, focused his panel on regulatory enforcement risks and the proposed regulation from the DOL, EEOC, and PBGC. He represents employers and ERISA plan fiduciaries in matters concerning ERISA compliance, fiduciary responsibility, collective bargaining, wage and hour, employee benefits, safety, discrimination, wrongful termination, and other labor and employment issues. Nelson provides advice and counseling to ERISA plan fiduciaries of single-employer and multi-employer plans.
