Nicholas Ballor is a registered patent agent, focusing his practice on patent application preparation and prosecution, and patent procurement and strategy. He represents start-ups, universities, and life sciences companies with various technologies in fields such as biotechnology, oncology, immune-oncology, gene-editing, biomarkers, diagnostics, biologics, genetics, virology, antibody technology, and medical devices. He conducts risk-assessment analyses to support business decisions and assists clients in the development of patent strategies.

Nicholas brings a broad technical background to his practice. Prior to practicing as a patent agent, he received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from Caltech as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and worked as a postdoctoral scholar on the Microbial and Enzyme Discovery team at the Joint BioEnergy Institute at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He received his B.S., summa cum laude, in chemical engineering with minors in biochemistry and mathematics from Michigan Tech as a Barry Goldwater Scholar.
