ATLANTA – March 9, 2023 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP expanded its litigation capabilities with the addition of Irina Khasin as Of Counsel in the firm’s Atlanta office. A former federal and state prosecutor, Khasin has over 12 years of investigative, litigation, and trial experience. She will join the firm’s Litigation, White Collar Defense & Special Investigations, Environmental & Toxic Tort Litigation, and Trial Practices.
Khasin was most recently an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. Prior to that, she was an Assistant District Attorney for the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Khasin has tried more than 30 jury trials as first chair and has been involved in dozens of investigations, many of which included complex financial matters.
Khasin has led Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Taskforce investigations and prosecutions, prosecuted complex fraud and other financial crimes, and advised on long-term investigations. She has worked closely with a variety of federal and local law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, offices of attorneys general, and district attorneys’ offices throughout Georgia.
“We welcome Irina to our team of highly skilled attorneys, which continues to grow strategically to meet client demand,” said Theodore I. Blum, Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta office. “In addition to her significant trial experience, Irina brings deep relationships with government agencies throughout Georgia and in the federal government, built over years of collaboration. She will undoubtedly offer valuable insights and experience as part of our growing Atlanta Litigation, White Collar Defense, Environmental & Toxic Tort, and Trial Practices.”
Khasin will also extend Greenberg Traurig’s Environmental & Toxic Tort Litigation Practice’s presence to Georgia where the team will represent clients in connection with federal, state, and local government enforcement—both civil and criminal, toxic torts, class actions, mass torts, and other environmental litigation. “We continue to see significant investigations and resulting enforcement by regulatory and law enforcement agencies for which clients need trusted advisors. Irina has the experience, skills, and reputation that make her a valuable addition to the team in Atlanta and beyond,” said David B. Weinstein, Chair of the Environmental & Toxic Tort Litigation Practice.
“The scale of Greenberg Traurig’s global footprint and its commitment to expanding the firm’s diverse team of professionals with a deep understanding of prosecutorial and regulatory priorities, policies, and procedures made joining the firm a compelling proposition,” Khasin said. “I am excited to be part of the team and work with my new colleagues across the firm’s unique local, national, and international platform.”
Khasin received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Southern California where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
