MIAMI – October 19, 2020 – Greenberg Traurig, P.A. attorneys Carlos R. Lago, Elizabeth E. Moum, and Reggie Zachariah have been honored in the law category of the 2020 South Florida Business & Wealth (SFBW) magazine Up and Comer Awards.
The Up and Comer Awards recognize professionals under the age of 40 who have achieved excellence in their careers, shown a commitment to their community, and demonstrated leadership. The awards are based on nominations by the public and SFBW research.
Lago, who is a member of the Land Use & Land Development Practice of the firm’s Miami office, has achieved successful results for clients bringing quality projects to downtown Miami, the Edgewater area of the City of Miami, Wynwood, Brickell and beyond. He focuses his practice on land use, zoning, and governmental affairs, representing clients in multi-million-dollar transactions throughout South Florida. Active in the Miami community, Lago serves on the board of The Downtown Miami Charter School, and Locust Projects. He is a member of the United Way’s Young Leaders Executive Committee, and volunteers for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. In addition, he is former vice chairman of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Cuban American Bar Association.
Moum is a shareholder in the Securities Litigation Practice of the firm's West Palm Beach office who represents major broker-dealers and registered representatives in securities litigations, arbitrations, and regulatory proceedings before FINRA, the SEC, and state regulators. She defends financial service firms in employment disputes involving allegations of federal and state statutory discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, defamation, and sexual harassment. Since 2019, Moum has served as the philanthropy chair of the Southeastern Women in Financial Services (SWIFS), and helped the organization forge a new philanthropic partnership with the Pace Center for Girls. The nonprofit provides at-risk girls and young women opportunities for a better future through education, counseling, and training. She is also a member of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit.
Zachariah is a shareholder in the firm's Corporate Practice in Fort Lauderdale, where he focuses his practice on private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and counseling boards and senior management on strategic business, corporate formation and governance, financial, and transactional matters. His specific industry experience includes health care technology and services, education, insurance, manufacturing, consumer products, franchises, retail, and infrastructure. He is a founding member and current committee member of the American Heart Association’s BrowardPULSE, a member of the Kids in Distress (KID) Elevate Event Committee and a board member of the Broward College District Board of Trustees. He has also been actively involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Ghost Light Society’s Soiree Host Committee, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Beach Bash, for which he served twice as co-chair. He also served for several years on the Seventeenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.
