WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 10, 2019– Johnine P. Barnes, a Labor & Employment shareholder in the Washington, D.C. office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, recently delivered the commencement speech at her alma mater Steubenville High School in Steubenville, Ohio. Barnes graduated in 1988 and was co-salutatorian of her class.
Barnes, parent to a soon-to-be high school graduate, offered “nuggets of wisdom” in her speech to the more than 150 graduates. Encouraging them to seek purpose in their lives and to serve others before themselves she noted, “The only time reward comes before work is in the dictionary.”
Of the 154 students in the Steubenville High School graduating class of 2019, 40 completed the scholar’s program and 46 completed Ohio’s requirements for an Honors diploma.
