Greenberg Traurig Adds Former Arizona Solicitor General Dominic E. Draye

PHOENIX and WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 30, 2019—Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP added Dominic E. Draye to its Phoenix and Washington, D.C., offices as a shareholder in the Litigation Practice. Draye previously served as the Solicitor General of Arizona, where he briefed and argued the State’s highest-profile civil and criminal appeals and served as lead counsel for several multi-state coalitions litigating over agency rulemaking in the D.C. Circuit.

“Dominic is a stellar litigator and appellate specialist who adds great expertise and depth to our litigation group in Arizona and nationally,” Global Litigation Practice co-chairs Lori G. Cohen and Jeff E. Scott said in a joint statement. “With Dominic, we have added a nationally renowned appellate specialist who can serve our clients throughout the nation.”

Draye has litigated at every level of the state and federal judiciary—from state trial court to the Supreme Court of the United States. His practice focuses on constitutional, regulatory, and environmental matters, and he has represented clients in both the public and private sectors. In the federal appellate courts, he has represented clients in the Fifth, Seventh, Ninth, and D.C. Circuits. Prior to government service, Draye was a litigator in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where his practice focused on legal issues and appeals.

Draye is a sought-after speaker on topics of administrative and constitutional law. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School; his M.A. in Economics from University of Pennsylvania; and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Seattle University.

“Dominic’s depth of experience as a litigator makes him an outstanding addition for our clients in Phoenix and firmwide,” said Phoenix Managing Shareholder Nicole M. Goodwin, named among the “Most Influential Women in Arizona Business” for 2018 by Arizona Business Magazine. “We are thrilled to welcome him to Greenberg Traurig and to continue to grow our Phoenix office.”

“I am excited to join Greenberg Traurig and to work with such a deep bench of top-notch lawyers,” Draye said. “I was attracted to the firm’s position of leadership in the state of Arizona along with its global footprint of elite practitioners.”

Also joining the firm in Phoenix is Corporate associate attorney Molly Coffey, who previously worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable David J. Hale of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.
