MIAMI (July 9 , 2014) – International law firm Greenberg Traurig announced that Emilio J. Alvarez-Farré has joined the firm as a Shareholder in its Latin American and Iberian Practice Group and Miami Corporate and Securities Practice Group. Alvarez-Farré concentrates his practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions.
Over the course of more than two decades, Alvarez-Farré has represented top companies and global brands in multibillion dollar landmark transactions throughout Latin America.

He advised the Republic of Argentina in the privatizations of Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales, S.A., MetroGas, S.A., and Transportadora de Gas del Norte, S.A. Alvarez-Farré represented Corporación de Fomento de la Producción, the Chilean privatization agency, in the privatization of Emos, the Chilean water company, and the Fondo de Inversiones de Venezuela, the Venezuelan privatization agency, in the privatization of C.V.G. Siderúrgica del Orinoco, C.A., the Venezuelan steel company. He also assisted Bankers Trust Company in leveraged financings to companies controlled by the Exxel Group in Argentina, including Fargo, Tia, Havanna and Oca, the first leveraged buyouts in that country. In addition, Alvarez-Farré represented Bio Pappel, S.A. de C.V., the largest paper company in Mexico, in its financial restructurings completed in 2005 and 2009, the first large-scale financial restructurings conducted under the Mexican restructuring law.

Alvarez-Farré received a law degree in 1986 from The University of Chicago Law School, and a master’s degree in business administration in 1986 from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He completed a graduate fellowship in 1980 in the Department of Philosophy at Princeton University, and received a bachelor’s degree in 1978 from Stanford University. Delgado received his law degree in 2005 from the University of Florida College of Law and his bachelor’s degree in 2000 from Cornell University.
