Silicon Valley Shareholder, Magan Pritam Ray was selected for the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s “Women of Influence” list and will be recognized at an awards dinner on May 31 in San Jose.
Since 2008, the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award has honored women who have made a significant impact at work and in their communities. This year’s honorees represent various industries including nonprofits, startups, manufacturing, aviation, legal, and finance. Ray was chosen from among 300 nominees for the prestigious award.
Ray has wide-ranging experience in all facets of employee benefits and ERISA matters, including the design, implementation, and operation of retirement plans, health and welfare benefit plans, cafeteria plans, fringe benefit plans, and non-qualified deferred compensation programs. She counsels clients on the business impact, strategic response, plan design, and compliance with health care reform. Ray regularly advises Fortune 100 companies on issues in mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, and joint ventures. She also has experience in representing companies undergoing employee benefits and tax audits before the IRS and Department of Labor.
Deeply involved in her community, Ray chairs the ACLU of Northern California and ACLU of Northern California Foundation, the largest of the ACLU affiliates, and frequently speaks on issues related to civil liberties, women in law, and related topics.
