Greenberg Traurig Attorneys to Present the Webinar, ‘Tax Traps for the Unwary When Moving to Texas’

San Francisco, CA – April 21, 2021 – Courtney Hopley, Glenn Newman and Josh Prywes of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Tax Practice will present the webinar, “Tax Traps for the Unwary When Moving to Texas,” April 21 from 1 pm to 2 pm PST.

Hosted by Greenberg Traurig, the webinar will discuss the legal issues related to ending California residency and moving a business from California to Texas.

Hopley, an of counsel in Greenberg Traurig’s San Francisco office, represents clients in federal and state tax controversies before the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board at the audit, collection, appeals and litigation stages. She works on tax controversy matters involving partnerships, corporations, individuals, real estate and penalty disputes. Hopley also has experience in tax planning involving entity formation, mergers and acquisitions, and reorganization transactions.

Newman, a shareholder in the New York office, handles tax planning and controversy matters involving state and local taxes including personal income tax, corporate tax, sales tax and real property transfer taxes as well as real estate tax and incentive programs. Newman’s practice includes handling audits and litigation involving income tax including residency matters, sales and use tax, hotel taxes and real estate transfer taxes in New York and other states.

Prywes, an associate in Greenberg Traurig’s Austin office, focuses his practice on federal, international, multistate, and local tax planning and implementation for both U.S. and foreign companies. Prywes has advised a variety of businesses on the tax implications of inbound and outbound transactions. He regularly structures and negotiates complex partnerships and corporations throughout the United States and has experience advising clients on the tax implications of real estate transactions and corporate mergers and acquisitions.
