MIAMI – Feb. 5, 2020 – Francis A. “Frank” Citera and Jaret L. Davis, shareholders of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., have been appointed to the University of Miami School of Law Dean’s Advisory Committee (DAC). Members of the DAC will serve as key advisors to Dean Anthony E. Varona, providing feedback and insight on major issues facing the school.
In addition, Citera and Davis will serve as champions for the school, engaging with alumni and supporting strategic, philanthropic, and “friend-raising” initiatives, according to the school.
Citera was formerly a member of the University of Miami School of Law National Advisory Council and currently serves as an adjunct professor at the law school. Davis was formerly president of the University of Miami Law Alumni Association and chair of the University of Miami School of Law Dean’s Circle.
“I am honored to join the Dean’s Advisory Committee and support its vital role in the law school’s growth and development,” said Davis, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office and a member of the Corporate Practice. “I look forward to working alongside Frank and other committee members to help guide initiatives that achieve the goals critical to the school’s continued success.”
At Greenberg Traurig, Davis focuses his corporate and securities practice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and large financings. The majority of his clients are technology players, ranging from information technology companies, to life sciences/biotech companies, to companies focusing on renewable energy sources. He routinely provides representation to publicly traded clients having an aggregate market capitalization of over $20 billion.
“It is very exciting to be a part of a tradition that helps impact the success of one of the preeminent law schools in the country,” said Citera, co-chair of the firm’s Product Liability and Mass Torts Litigation Practice and co-chair of the Chicago office Litigation Practice. “I’m eager to work with Jaret and the rest of the dean’s advisors to bring the school’s ambitious goals to fruition.”
Citera is a nationally-recognized trial lawyer defending clients in product liability, toxic torts, class actions, and other complex litigation matters in federal and state courts. He has achieved success in defeating class certification, disputing alleged claims in court, and obtaining summary judgments and outright dismissals prior to trial.
