He has considerable experience in consumer class action litigation, having been involved in class actions in federal courts in several states. Newman, a shareholder in the Los Angeles Litigation Group, has considerable jury trial experience defending complex civil disputes in a variety of areas. He has represented some of America’s most well-known food and beverage companies in federal court, defending claims of false advertising under the Lanham Act as well as state consumer protection statutes. Newman has broad experience in the defense of consumer class actions, including CAFA actions. He also specializes in products liability and toxic tort defense, having handled at least 50 such cases in California state courts this decade.
