Lawrence Sternthal Joins Greenberg Traurig as Israeli Office Real Estate Practice Head

TEL AVIV, Israel - JUNE 6, 2016 – Lawrence Sternthal, who until recently led the International Real Estate Practice at the Israeli law firm Gross Kleinhendler Hodak, Halevy, Greenberg & Co. (GKH), has joined global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP as head of the Tel Aviv office's international Real Estate Practice, which has one of the leading teams in the industry. This move marks the first time that a partner has left a leading Israeli law firm to become a shareholder in the Israel office of an international law firm.

With more than 14 years of real estate experience, Sternthal frequently represents public and private Israeli companies, including insurance companies and pension funds. Additionally, Sternthal has worked with Israeli financial institutions in the financing of a variety of real estate transactions in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, and others. Sternthal has also represented U.S. and European developers in property acquisition and development transactions in Israel.

Sternthal holds a J.D. from Boston University and a B.A. from McGill University in Canada.

Gary M. Epstein, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Tel Aviv office, said, “We are happy to welcome Lawrence to the firm. He has vast experience and expertise in international real estate transactions. The combination of Lawrence’s abilities and expertise with the firm’s global platform will allow for extensive involvement of Israeli companies and investors in real estate transactions overseas.”

Sternthal added, “The volume of international real estate transactions being carried out by Israeli companies and institutional bodies has grown significantly in recent years. I chose to join an international firm with an outstanding team of experienced real estate lawyers. This expertise, together with Greenberg Traurig being strategically positioned in key markets in the United States and Europe, will benefit clients and open new opportunities for the Israeli real estate investor market. I thank GKH for 11 fulfilling years and for the opportunity to develop their international real estate practice and I look forward to collaborating with GKH in the future.”
