ORLANDO, Fla. – June 13, 2014 – Orlando Evora, Co-Managing Shareholder in the Orlando office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, has been honored with the "Father of the Year" award presented by the 2014 Father's Day Council. Evora was one of four honorees recognized June 12 at a special awards ceremony and dinner at the Hilton Orlando.
The mission of the Father’s Day Council is to identify and honor fathers who have demonstrated the ability to balance their personal lives, serve as a role model for their children and help make a positive difference in the community. Each year, the “Father of the Year” awards raise money to benefit the American Diabetes Association, which aims to prevent and cure diabetes, while also improving the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
Along with Evora, the three other nominees included James W. Ferrell, President of Ferrell Wealth Management; Harvey L. Massey, Chairman and CEO of Massey Services, Inc.; and Craig Swygert, Orlando President of Clear Channel Outdoors.
Evora is a leader in the firm’s Real Estate practice. He has wide-ranging experience in the acquisition, development, finance, disposition, entitlement, permitting and leasing of real property. With deep roots in Central Florida, Orlando Evora has served in numerous leadership capacities on some of the area's most high-profile boards. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida, Inc. and is a member of the Board of Directors for both the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission and Visit Orlando.
He is married to Carrie Evora, and together they have three sons and one daughter. Evora is a graduate of Rollins College and received his law degree from Florida State University. He is an active member of St. James Catholic Cathedral in downtown Orlando.
