MIAMI (October 7, 2014) – – International law firm Greenberg Traurig and UK publisher Chambers and Partners hosted the annual Women in Law: Leadership Summit Sept. 19 at the Miami office of Greenberg Traurig.

“Overall, as a firm, our focus is to actively support women attorneys so that they may become leaders within the organizations of which they are members, and in turn, contribute to the development of gender parity within the legal profession,” Menéndez-Cambó said. “It is important that we focus on increasing the number of successful women lawyers in order to ensure that there is a robust pipeline of quality leaders in place for future generations. The annual Women in Law: Leadership Summit is one step in that process.”
The summit’s speaking panel also included Carmen Backsmann, Executive Manager, Legal Affairs, Volkswagen do Brasil; Angela Camacho, Associate General Counsel, Microsoft Latin America; Luisa Gamboa, Vice President Legal & Government Affairs, Procurement & Supply Chain Lead Counsel, Motorola Solutions; Lyan Fernandez, EVP and COO, TotalBank; and Aileen Ugalde, Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary to the Board, University of Miami. Dee Sekar, Chambers and Partners, Editor In-House and Women in Law, moderated the event.
Discussion topics included advice and tips for success for minority leaders, networking and increasing your visibility, rainmaking tips, women in leadership, and achieving and managing the expectation of a work-life balance.
“It was truly an honor to join such a distinguished group of women to share our personal experiences and relay best practices for achieving executive leadership," said Menéndez-Cambó. "More diverse, nuanced teams not only make business sense, but also benefit society at large."
The panel discussion was followed by interactive, small group conversations on the topics of developing your personal brand, mentorship, and building confidence and projecting experience.
