John Huber is a statured leader with nearly three decades of intensive litigation experience. Over the course of his career John has personally tried hundreds of civil and criminal cases to verdict in federal and state courts. Having served as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah from 2015-2021, John was the longest-tenured active U.S. Attorney in the United States for four of those years, and served in significant leadership roles in the U.S. Department of Justice. First appointed by President Obama and later re-appointed by President Trump, he was twice unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate. John enjoyed bi-partisan support and recognition as a federal prosecutor and leader during his tenure. Two Attorneys General entrusted John with highly sensitive investigations that were the subject of intense political and media scrutiny on the national stage, and he twice reported to Congressional leaders of each party regarding those investigations. Even with such scrutiny, John led a team of teams in a multi-pronged investigation that maintained strict confidentiality and integrity of the process.  A hallmark of John’s investigative experience is right-sizing qualified teams of professionals to meet a particular client need, from localized issues to cross-border and international challenges.

John has handled matters of national security, terrorism, espionage, controlled substances diversion, trade secrets, and allegations involving wire fraud, the False Claim Act and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. In public service, John was also appointed as a “leader amongst leaders” and helped shape and oversee U.S. Department of Justice practice and policy over two presidential administrations. At GT, John’s breadth of experience and focus includes investigations and litigation involving individuals, corporations, financial institutions, securities, health care, trade secrets, and false claims. Relying on his strong relationships with authorities, John also helps individuals and companies who fall victim to criminal conduct by liaising with officials who can seek justice against wrongdoers. In turn, when government inquiries focus on clients, John is strongly suited to advocate on behalf of individuals and companies informally and in formal proceedings, as well, and has counseled companies regarding federal law who are engaged in health care, aerospace and defense, cryptocurrency, hazardous materials, and customs enforcement, for example.

In light of his extensive experience with the media, outlets regularly seek John’s insight regarding justice issues and concerns in current events. He has appeared numerous times on national and local broadcast media and is extensively referenced in print media.

John also focuses his practice on helping businesses expand and operate internationally. As a board member of World Trade Center® Utah, John uses Greenberg Traurig LLP’s global platform to provide the insight that will help businesses pursue their goals. He remains committed to public service and dedicates considerable time and attention to community projects such as his governor-appointed chairmanship of Utah’s most active judicial nominating commission and his service on the board of trustees for The University of Utah’s SJ Quinney College of Law.
