ATLANTA – Jan. 21, 2025 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues expanding its Atlanta office with the addition of Shareholders Peter J. Andrews, who rejoins the firm’s Government Law & Policy Practice, and Fredric “Rick” Bold, who joins the Litigation Practice.
Andrews has experience in virtually all aspects of local government law, including litigation, procurement, and public finance with a focus on economic development advising, including negotiating and documenting transactions for airports, stadiums, public transportation systems, and other governmental facilities. He recently served as chief counsel of legal services for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), the nation’s ninth largest transit system.
Andrews brings his experience back to Greenberg Traurig, where he previously worked as of counsel on the Business Litigation and the Public Finance & Infrastructure practices. Andrews’ earlier work includes being a member of the city of Atlanta Department of Law, where he held multiple positions over the course of nearly 10 years including deputy of the commercial transactions team, deputy of the aviation team, and interim city attorney.
“Returning to Greenberg Traurig is a full circle moment for my legal career,” Andrews said. “Collaborating with talented colleagues in the firm’s global network enables me to combine the best of my talents in city and government infrastructure on a wider playing field.”
Bold focuses on complex, high-stakes trial and appellate business litigation. His practice primarily involves contract disputes, fraud cases, and business tort matters. He has represented a diverse range of clients as both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts. Bold has handled cases involving business-to-business services relationships, disputes arising out of M&A transactions, mass arbitration defense, partnership disputes, RICO claims, product liability and warranty disputes, and restrictive covenant matters. Bold joins Greenberg Traurig from Bondurant Mixson & Elmore in Atlanta. Before entering private practice, Bold served as a law clerk to Judge J.L. Edmondson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
“In looking for opportunities to expand my practice nationally while remaining a go-to litigator in Georgia, Greenberg Traurig made the most sense,” Bold said. “I am eager to collaborate with the great talent here and help clients on a broader platform.”
Greenberg Traurig’s Government Law & Policy Practice advises clients at the local, state, and federal level navigate complex government issues. Andrews will work closely with Robert W. Kamerschen, who joined the firm in 2021, and Jake Evans who joined in 2023. The team will complement other existing capabilities in Georgia and throughout the United States, including the already robust Commercial Litigation Practice.
“Adding these two proficient litigators strengthens the capabilities our firm offers in navigating complex matters. They are a great asset to the Litigation and Government Law & Policy practices and we look forward to growing these areas for our clients.
“As critical policy changes in the United States are increasingly initiated at the state level, Greenberg Traurig continues to grow our Government Law & Policy Practice in several key states to meet our clients where they need us most,” said Richard J. Valladares, administrative shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta office. “Combined with our robust federal practice in Washington D.C., and wide-ranging Commercial Litigation Practice, adding experienced team members like Peter and Rick in our local markets makes the resources the firm provides to clients stronger at every level.”
Andrews received his J.D. from Western New England College School of Law and his B.A. from Delaware State University. Bold received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and B.A. from Davidson College.
