Greenberg Traurig Sponsors Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia’s 2024 Awards Ceremony & Scholarship Gala

Firm’s named scholarship will support Drexel University
Kline School of Law Student Morgan Alexandria Clarke’s studies

PHILADELPHIA – June 10, 2024 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP presented a named scholarship at the 2024 Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia Awards Ceremony & Scholarship Gala held May 11. The 2024 Greenberg Traurig scholar is Morgan Alexandria Clarke, a rising and accomplished third-year law student at Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law.

The Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia is an affiliate of the National Bar Association. Scholarships are given to African American and other minority law students who demonstrate leadership ability, academic achievement, and a commitment to community service and professional development, according to the group. A prior Greenberg Traurig scholar, Philadelphia native James T. Smith, now works as a tax attorney in the firm’s San Francisco office.

“We continue to nurture our relationship with the Barristers’ Association because of its important work in the community and because it has yielded measurable results,”, Greenberg Traurig Philadelphia office Managing Shareholder Alexander L. Scarola said. “Not only does the group’s transformative work in our region help increase pathways to opportunity and justice for practitioners and citizens, but it also has served as a viable source of talent for our firm.”

Clarke, a current representative for the Kline School’s Student Bar Association and a Drexel representative of the Young Lawyers’ Division of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, says she hopes to steer her career toward an in-house role within the fashion industry, while continuing the pro bono service she enjoys providing to those in need.

She has served as a pro bono volunteer for the Small Business Development Project and a pro bono fellow for the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. This fall, Clarke says she plans to serve as a co-op legal extern for Company Counsel LLC. A native of Bloomfield, Conn. and 2023 summa cum laude graduate of Spelman College, Clarke anticipates sitting for her bar exam in 2025.

“As I pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer, I see myself as a respected leader, advocating for both businesses and individuals, much like the work performed at Greenberg Traurig, which offers thoughtful responses tailored to clients’ diverse needs,” Clarke said.

“What truly stood out to me about the firm, though, is its unwavering commitment to diversity, recognizing its pivotal role in enhancing client service. And the firm’s dedication to community impact resonates deeply, both institutionally and through individual efforts, underscoring the firm’s holistic approach to corporate responsibility,” she added. “I am grateful for its belief in me.”
