Greenberg Traurig Advises Kloeckner & Co on Relocation of Headquarters to Sustainable Building in Dusseldorf

Greenberg Traurig advised the steel and metal trading group Kloeckner & Co SE on the relocation of its corporate headquarters to a new, sustainable building. The new corporate headquarters is in Airport Gardens at Düsseldorf Airport and comprises around 4,000 square meters of office space and is owned by Union Investment Real Estate. The relocation of around 250 employees is scheduled to take place by summer 2025 at the latest.

With 160 locations worldwide, Kloeckner & Co is one of the largest producer-independent steel and metal distributors and one of the leading steel service companies. Kloeckner & Co made the decision for the new location after examining around 70 sites in Duisburg and neighboring cities. By moving to the new building, the company will reduce its CO2 emissions at its headquarters by more than half.

Greenberg Traurig's lawyers advised Kloeckner & Co in the negotiations for the lease of the Airport Gardens property in Düsseldorf as well as possible other properties.
