Erik is an associate in Greenberg Traurig’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice. Erik’s practice primarily focuses on patent litigation and competitive intellectual property analysis, clearance, and opinions. Erik has deep litigation experience in all phases of federal district court litigation. Erik has also represented clients before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and U.S. International Trade Commission. He has also litigated numerous other complex intellectual property cases involving standard essential patents, copyrights and trade secrets. 

Erik has represented clients in diverse industries and technologies, including augmented reality, software and computer systems, signaling and wireless communications, navigation and infotainment systems, UAVs, turbomachinery, optics, food processing, household appliances, battery technology, consumer electronics, lawn and power equipment, construction hardware and tools, and medical devices.

  • Representation of a global vehicle manufacturer in the defense of a six-patent infringement action involving navigation and infotainment system technology. Obtained a settlement without trial.
  • Representation of an international pet technology startup in the defense of a patent infringement action involving remote pet communication devices. Obtained summary judgment of non-infringement.
  • Representation of a traffic management technology company in a patent infringement and deceptive advertising action involving portable traffic systems at construction sites. Obtained dismissal with prejudice of plaintiff’s claims and award of attorneys’ fees for plaintiff’s litigation misconduct.

  • Representation of universal remote control company in numerous appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit relating to remote control technology, signaling, and wireless communication.
  • Representation of a tool manufacturer in the defense of a five-patent infringement action involving laser marking technology. Obtained a settlement without trial.
  • Representation of a beverage packaging company in a patent, trade secret, and trade dress action involving beverage delivery systems and associated fitments. Obtained a settlement without trial.
  • Representation of a medical diagnostic equipment manufacturer in the defense of a patent infringement action involving automated laboratory software.°
  • Representation of a multinational hospitality company in the defense of a five-patent infringement action involving point-of-sale technology.°
