Greenberg Traurig Advises Alter Equity as Lead Investor in montamo Financing Round

BERLIN – April 4, 2025 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig has advised Alter Equity, France’s pioneering venture capital impact fund, on all legal aspects of its role as lead investor in the €6 million seed financing round of Berlin-based startup montamo GmbH.

The financing round also included Rethink Education as a new follower investor, alongside continued support from existing shareholders Project A Ventures and Firstminute Capital. With this investment in montamo, Alter Equity is further strengthening its presence in the German market. The Paris-based VC fund focuses on investing in European startups that drive the transition toward a more sustainable and responsible economy.

montamo, headquartered in Berlin with expanding operations in Munich and Stuttgart, trains new specialists in heat pump installation through its in-house academy and digital solutions. The company places particular emphasis on supporting career changers, many of whom come from migrant backgrounds.

Greenberg Traurig’s lawyers advised Alter Equity on the due diligence process as well as the preparation and negotiation of investment documentation.

Background:

This marks the first time Greenberg Traurig has advised Alter Equity. Over the past year, the firm has increasingly been retained by international investors for venture capital transactions, including OTB Ventures – currently the largest VC fund in Central and Eastern Europe – and Owl Ventures, the world’s largest edtech-focused VC fund. This work with Alter Equity underscores Greenberg Traurig’s growing market reach and experience in supporting cross-border VC investments.
