NEW YORK – Nov. 7, 2024 – Three attorneys from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP will participate in panels at the American Bar Association’s (ABA) 18th Annual Labor and Employment Law Conference, which will be held from Nov. 13-16 in New York City. The conference is the ABA Labor and Employment Law Section’s signature event.

Martine Tariot Wells, shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Denver office, will moderate a panel, “Litigating Wage and Hour Collective Actions, Part 1: Intake Through Discovery,” from 8-9:15 a.m. Nov. 14. The panel will work through a wage and hour collective action simulation from initial client intake through discovery, including initial client intake and filing of the complaint, answering the complaint, and discovery. The program also will discuss strategic considerations, techniques, dealing with the press, and client and stakeholder management.

Kelly Dobbs Bunting, shareholder in the Philadelphia office, will speak on a panel, “Limitations on Employee Speech in the Workplace: A Cross-Border Review,” from 2:30-3:45 p.m. Nov. 14. Panelists will discuss political and social expression at work and considerations for global and local policy approaches for regulating workplace speech.

Tiffany S. Fordyce, shareholder in the Chicago office, will moderate a panel, “Is National Origin Discrimination on the Rise?” from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Nov. 16. The panel will discuss an increased potential for unlawful national origin discrimination, harassment, or retaliation and ways in which employers and employees can anticipate and prevent associated consequences of unlawful behavior.

Wells represents employers in all workforce-related matters. While her goal is to help employers avoid disputes, when necessary, she defends employers in all varieties of employment litigation, including class, collective action, and individual lawsuits involving current and former employees. While her practice is focused on wage and hour claims, she also represents employers in discrimination, wrongful termination, and non-compete/non-solicit litigation.

Bunting, co-chair of the firm's Labor & Employment Practice's Workplace Compliance & Counseling Group, litigates federal and state class and collective actions alleging wage and hour violations, misclassification, overtime, minimum wage, and off-the-clock work. Bunting also defends employers around the country in single-plaintiff litigation involving gender, age, disability, race, national origin, religious, and pregnancy discrimination; harassment and retaliation; whistleblower claims; theft of trade secrets; breach of duty; breach of employment agreements; and restrictive covenants.

Fordyce concentrates her practice on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on labor and employment. She is chair of the Chicago Labor & Employment Practice and co-chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Group. Her employment litigation practice includes all types of discrimination and retaliation claims, wage and hour claims, trade secret misappropriation claims, whistleblower claims, restrictive covenants, Fair Credit Reporting Act claims, Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act claims and WARN Act claims. She defends single plaintiff, class action and collective action employment cases. Fordyce represents employers in federal, state and administrative courts, as well as before administrative agencies.
