LONDON (3 September 2014) – Highly ranked and acclaimed corporate tax attorney Graham Iversen will join the London office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, as a shareholder in the firm’s Global Tax Practice.
Graham Iversen has served as a corporate tax specialist in Slaughter and May’s Tax department since joining that firm in 1990. His main areas of expertise are mergers and acquisitions (public, private, domestic and cross-border), structured finance, private equity, corporate reconstructions, and public debt and equity issues.
"We are extremely pleased that such an experienced and talented lawyer as Graham Iversen has agreed to join us. He comes from a world class law firm and the experience he has gained at Slaughter and May will be an invaluable contribution to the development of the firm. Graham is a significant step in the development of Greenberg Traurig’s London presence. Tax advice is a core part of the London strategy and Graham's addition will maintain the momentum in the growth of a world class practice," said Paul Maher, Co-Chairman of the firm's Global Mergers & Acquisitions Group and Chairman of Greenberg Traurig Maher LLP, the firm's UK operation.
"In July of 2009, we embarked on a unique journey with Paul Maher, Fiona Adams and Cate Sharp in London, at a time when conditions were uncertain and those who were looking forward at all were considering large mergers and vereins which we viewed as dilutive to culture, quality and, more than likely, finances," said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Chief Executive Officer of Greenberg Traurig. "We said we were charting an independent course made for the new world, where elite quality and extraordinary value would be delivered by the same law firm, even in London, but that it would require patience, discipline and the kind of leadership only someone like Paul could provide in this market. There were those who questioned what was possible, but Paul and our team did not listen, instead we have intensely focused on execution and collaboration. The results we are having, deals we are doing and hires like Graham are very positive indeed, but most importantly, the satisfaction we hear from our clients validates our vision more clearly every day."
Greenberg Traurig’s Tax Practice is a core practice for the firm; it is large and globally integrated and includes more than 115 attorneys located throughout its international network. Greenberg Traurig tax attorneys help develop and implement global tax strategies to help minimise taxes, no matter where in the world clients operate. Whether they work exclusively with a client or serve as an important part of a client’s team of tax professionals, they custom-tailor the firm’s services to provide sophisticated, strategic and efficient tax advice.
Graham is listed as a leading individual in the Tax sections of Chambers UK 2014, Chambers Europe 2014 and Chambers Global 2014. He is also listed in Who's Who Legal 2013 and in the first UK edition of the Super Lawyers Magazine 2013.
