MIAMI – Feb. 27, 2023 –Tzy-Ying (Sandy) Chiu, an Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Associate at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, received the President’s Award at the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of South Florida’s (APABA) Board Installation Dinner held Feb. 25 in Miami.
Chiu was recognized for her commitment to the organization, the legal community, and the greater Asian Pacific American community. Chiu became a member of APABA in 2015 and joined the board as secretary. Chiu quickly rose the ranks as president of APABA, serving from 2019 to 2020. She is currently based in the firm’s New York office.
“At first, I joined APABA seeking mentorship as a first generation attorney, and knew immediately I wanted to get involved and give back to the organization. Over the years, APABA has helped me develop professionally and personally, and I have enjoyed dedicating my time and energy to growing the organization,” Chiu said. “I feel honored to receive the President’s Award.”
Chiu focuses her practice on intellectual property law in large-scale transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, spin-outs, and licenses, and handles intellectual property risk-management for many public and private companies.
APABA is a nonprofit, voluntary bar organization of attorneys in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession and combatting discrimination against minorities. The event, at which APABA’s 2023 board was announced, featured a keynote speaker, award winners, and cultural performances.
