TALLAHASSEE (Oct. 20, 2014) – Greenberg Traurig Tallahassee shareholder Maribel Nicholson-Choice spoke as a panelist at Florida A&M University’s Environmental Justice and Sustainability Symposium held Oct. 2 in Tallahassee, Florida.
Florida A&M University seeks to play a leadership role in finding solutions to some of the most pressing environmental sustainability issues on the local, regional and global levels. The Environmental Justice and Sustainability Symposium aimed to provide the platform to raise awareness of current environmental issues.
Nicholson-Choice offered her first-hand knowledge of the progression of environmental justice in Florida as a panelist during the symposium’s opening session.
Nicholson-Choice served as Vice Chair of the Environmental Regulation Commission from 1995-1997 and helped to foster the collaborative relationship between FAMU’s Environmental Justice Center and the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
“I was honored to offer my experience and insight to help educate others on the significance of sustainability and environmental justice,” said Nicholson-Choice. “Today we are facing a new chapter and this symposium offered valuable, firsthand information from some of the area’s expert sources on local, regional and global environmental matters.”
As a member of Greenberg Traurig’s Tallahassee Environmental practice, Nicholson-Choice focuses her practice on various aspects of environmental, real estate and financial institution representations, and governmental affairs.
Throughout her career, Nicholson-Choice has received numerous awards and recognitions including most recently listed, The Best Lawyers in America, Environmental Law, 2010-2015; Team Member, a U.S. News - Best Lawyers® "Government Relations Law Firm of the Year," 2014, Ranked, Tier 1 – Government Relations, Tallahassee Metropolitan Area; Recipient, The Florida Bar Environmental and Land Use Law Section's "Judy Florence Memorial Outstanding Service Award.”
