Wouter van Wengen is a member of the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice in Greenberg Traurig’s New York office. Admitted to practice in both New York and the Netherlands, Wouter brings a transatlantic perspective to his work. His experience across multiple tech-related legal disciplines allows him to effectively navigate complex issues and address clients' EU and U.S. needs.
On the transaction front, Wouter is involved in commercial agreements, M&A, and outsourcing transactions. He prepares, negotiates, and reviews various documents including master service agreements, framework service agreements, IP license agreements, purchase agreements, data protection addendums, and DORA addendums. When negotiating (AI) SaaS agreements, Wouter draws on his international experience to draft, review, and negotiate IP rights or licenses, data privacy, and any other commercial contracting aspect regardless of U.S. or European choice of law or jurisdiction.
Wouter also advises clients on compliance with various privacy laws, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and U.S. federal and state comprehensive privacy laws, as well as other U.S. and EU technology and AI related laws. His transatlantic experience is often leveraged with respect to international data transfers. On the cybersecurity front, Wouter’s experience extends to assessing cyber security risks, advising on cybersecurity programs, and managing the legal aspects of incident response.
Wouter is also involved in entertainment matters related to digital content & new media, content licensing, production, music, advertising, copyright, sponsorships, and rights acquisitions.
