Brian S. Smetana advises major lending institutions, debt funds, institutional investors, REITs, and private equity funds in connection with senior and mezzanine financing, real estate acquisitions and dispositions. His practice includes restructurings, recapitalizations, workouts, and complex joint venture agreements. He also represents private equity funds, developers, and owners of real estate in connection with a wide variety of asset classes, including office, hospitality, and multifamily properties.

Brian represents both institution and non-institutional clients in the origination of commercial mortgage loans (construction, interim and permanent), mezzanine loans and preferred equity. Brian is also well-versed in securitizations, mortgage loan repurchase/warehouse facilities, loan portfolio purchases and sales, syndications and participations. He also structures and closes syndicated loan transactions and advises on the financing of condominium and cooperative properties.
