Marisa Murillo has over 20 years of experience focusing on negotiating and documenting complex finance transactions for a diverse client base including commercial lending institutions, debt funds, private and public companies, and private equity sponsors.
Marisa’s practice encompasses various aspects of finance, such as secured and unsecured credit facilities, leveraged buyout financings, refinancings, commitment papers, subordination and intercreditor agreements, mezzanine loans, debt and equity restructurings, stimulus loans, art and specialty collateral loans, green loans, joint ventures, and general working capital facilities. She also assists equity and debt funds in raising fund-level financings.
Throughout her career, Marisa has led finance deals ranging from $5 million to several billion dollars across numerous industries, including manufacturing, automotive, retail, technology, consumer brands, health care, telecommunications, media and entertainment, energy, hospitality, and professional services. During the credit crisis, she worked as in-house finance counsel at a multinational automotive manufacturer, advising on corporate and finance matters in relation to TARP.
Marisa has experience representing lenders and borrowers, particularly in the middle market, where she manages legal teams to achieve efficient outcomes for clients.
Her work has been recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business and the Kayo Conference Series, with some of her deals featured in The Wall Street Journal.
In addition to her legal practice, Marisa is involved in professional and community activities. She serves on the boards of several art museums, assisting with fundraising for exhibitions featuring diverse artists. Marisa has also held the position of regional president for the Hispanic National Bar Association, an organization dedicated to empowering members of the Hispanic legal community. She is fluent in Spanish, which enhances her ability to serve a diverse client base.
