Sam S. Hyde is a member of the Labor & Employment and Litigation practices in Greenberg Traurig's Sacramento office. He has considerable experience representing clients in both labor & employment and general litigation matters. Sam also provides labor & employment counseling advice to guide clients towards compliance and to develop practices with the goal of avoiding potentially costly litigation.

Sam has handled a wide array of single plaintiff and class action labor & employment matters on various topics, including misclassification, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, leaves of absence, and employee accommodations. He is well-versed in defending complex wage & hour, class, PAGA, and representative actions. Some representative examples of Sam’s experience include:

  • Representing a managed care organization in both single-plaintiff and alleged class actions under the California Labor Code, including claims brought under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (“PAGA”);
  • Defending a favorable arbitration award on behalf of a nationwide event planning company; and
  • Advising clients on worker misclassification issues stemming from California’s Assembly Bill 5.

Prior to joining the firm, Samuel served as a law clerk for the Honorable Dale A. Drozd for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, where he worked on a variety of civil cases including trade secret matters, employment disputes, property disputes, breaches of contract, civil rights, and habeas.

Sam has also acted as Special Counsel to the General Counsel for the National Security Agency (NSA). He provided legal and policy advice in direct support to NSA’s General Counsel. He drafted formal and informal legal briefings, defending the Agency’s positions in the interagency process, to Congress, and to the public. Through his work at NSA, Sam obtained a top-secret security clearance with access to sensitive compartmented information.
